Just wrapped the Lake Ontario 300 — one of the longest freshwater sailing races in the world — with 3 days and nights of just about every kind of weather the lake could throw at us. We saw breeze, calms, rain (even dodged some lightning), and everything in between before eventually calling it and tapping out at 225 nautical miles when the wind shut off completely to leave behind total glass-off conditions. No finish line glory, but no shortage of laughs, strong crew chemistry, or storytelling material. The LO300 is a true test of strategy and seamanship, but mostly sense of humour — and we showed up with all three, plus the best damn team jerseys on the lake. If they gave out hardware for good times and style, we’d already have our trophy on the mantle. A hell of a ride with lifelong friends ... proud to have taken part in such a legendary event. #lakeontario300 #lakeontario #lakeontario300challenge #lo300 #lakeontariosailing #loor300 #pcyc #mimicocruisingclub

In a band with a gang—honoured every time I get to play with these guys. No half-measures, no safety nets, no ego, full volume, pure signal.

Big thanks to Blair Burch photography for capturing the storm mid-strike. You made us look like we meant to do all of that. Grooveyard, indeed Toronto’s most dangerous band.

Seems like about the right time to share the artwork that was originally intended for Not So Funky Groove. Maybe time for another listen (on all streaming platforms) #politicalsongs #trudeau #cdnpoli #musicwithamessage #electiontime #canadianmusic

Let’s have some kinda fun! Get your kinetic energy out with the Official NSFG Video … infectious rhythm and danceable beat that even made some of the all-time greats strut their stuff to the groove. Hope you’ll take a moment to watch the full video on YouTube (a super easy search “Not So Funky Groove” “Zoltan Horcsok” - look for the Official Video). It was a ton of fun to put together in hopes of dragging you into the party. Credits on every clip are in the video description. Shout outs to the magic of @john_charles_brewer_ whose production chops are confounding. The incomparable Janet Hale @jhale00 pushing the vocal track into the sweetness zone. Alex Araujo @fat.tire.skinny.tyre who basted the keys with the Union Jack. Dave Lewis @dingleningle providing the backbone of the groove. An honour to have NSFG associated with each one. Enjoy. Like. Follow. (Motion graphics video for the VIP Remix also out now if yer feelin’ a little psychedelic). #notsofunky #newmusicvideo #canadianmusicians #dancevideo #patrickswayze #dirtydancing #westsidestory #flashdance #vivalasvegas #footloose #rockyhorrorpictureshow #singingintherain #jesuschristsuperstar #backtothefuture #tophat #riskybusiness #hellodolly #schoolofrock #breakin #penniesfromheaven #whiteknights #dance #marypoppins #napoleondynamite #500daysofsummer #allthatjazz #42ndstreet #youtube #itunes

Super excited to share this new music. Not So Funky Groove is a musical Trojan horse. A little political commentary neatly disguised as a song that dances on the surface. Its got a cool vibe and was a ton of fun to create with my pal John Brewer. Butterscotch heavy and motor oil smooth, I hope it’s a groove you’ll wanna move to despite the fact it carries a little slap just below its veneer. Because sometimes, NOT SO FUNKY is the best GROOVE of all!

How about a little good news? I wrote a song called “It Makes Me Cry” for the album Reimagined. The lyrics were written by @jerryagar1010 about a woman he knew and the sadness and complexity of #addiction. Despite being sung by the very talented @katmatthews , it wasn’t a very happy song. There is an article in the Toronto Sun today that lays out the story that inspired the song and it DOES have a happy ending. I am thankful to have played a small role in bringing some awareness to a very difficult conversation. Dylan made it. I am hopeful now. Please check out “It Makes Me Cry” on all the usual digital platforms. #addictionrecovery #addictionawareness #goodnewsstory

“We had much fun at the Pavillion”. …. Love hanging out around musical talent any way I can. Thursday Open Mic at the Oculus has been a much needed reprieve from … well … nothing. Had a blast tonight jamming some tunes with Caitlin and Dave. @rocku_lus #oculus

REIMAGINED drops 02.12.21. Available for pre-order and Spotify Pre-Save now (LINK IN BIO). This is a special project featuring the enormously talented @katmatthews . It weaved its way through lockdowns and quarantines over the course of several months. It’s the album that the pandemic couldn’t kill (though it tried). Tracked at Grooveyard Soundworks, each song was meticulously mixed and mastered @trenchrecordings with Lionel Pedro. Hope you’ll tap in and appreciate the laid back vibe. I’m sure we could all use some of that right now. Reconceived classics meet original material in this debut release for Kat - we’re thrilled to share it!
